The Military Faculty of the Belarusian University of Informatics and Radioelectronics provides a comprehensive general education and military vocational engineering training for telecommunications engineers. The students, that is to say, the cadets acquire a comprehensive knowledge of varied branches of science and technology, military sciences, the humanities and social sciences, economics theory, sociology, politology, psychology and pedagogy, ethics and foreign languages.
The general scientific and professional training creates the basis for both the theoretical knowledge of the speciality and the applied knowledge of the related areas including the national and personal security of the people in an emergency, as well as the security against radiation, chemicals and biological weapons.
To comply with the requirements for a communications electronics officer, the cadets should acquire profound learning of special subjects, majors and the special tactical training. The majors building a theoretical basis of knowledge provide practical skills and techniques. These are satellite-, radiorelay-, tropospheric- fiberoptic-, multichannel-, communications systems, modern technologies of systems and means of telecommunications, development of digital communications systems, operation and maintenance of military transmission systems, operation and maintenance of communication networks (signal centers) and a number of others.
Special subjects providing a strong theoretical basis of knowledge and practical skills in speciality include guiding communications systems, the principles of construction of telecommunications systems and networks, communications systems modeling, switching systems in telecommunications, TV systems, systems for access to telecommunications and computer networks.
The combined arms training provides the theory and practical skills for a serviceman, which includes (parade) drill, battle training, firing, the combined arms regulations, military engineering training, the combined arms topography, the fundamentals of secret control of the troops and secrecy regime, the command and control of combat units in peace-time.
Only operationally ready armed forces can meet all the requirements and withstand extreme stress. The operational tactical and realistic field training creates the ability to develop proficiency and specialized skills to work knowledgably at the appropriate post of predestination. The tactical special training includes signal communications in battle, signal centers and their combat application, the principles of arms maintenance and battle application of communications means, the fundamentals of radioelectronic intelligence, secure facilities, topogeodesic provision.
The Faculty graduates have good employment opportunities to work at civil enterprises or serve in the (armed) forces, since they are trained to be engaged in various working activities, such as organization and management, operation and maintenance (of communications networks), research and teacher’s work in the field of application, operation and maintenance of special telecommunications systems adopted by the armed forces of the Republic of Belarus.
